About Me

A little bit about me.....I grew up in North Bellmore, LI, NY . In 1976 I moved in with Cookie, the love of my life. We moved together to Moncure, NC in 2004. That is when I retired from my profession as a Dental Hygienist. Cookie passed on in 2009 and I needed to go forth with my life. I decided to do some traveling. I went to India with my longtime BFAAF Susan, went to Africa with my awesome friends Judy and Mike and my drum group, went to Alaska, again with Judy. I have been to Aruba numerous times with my great friends Susan and Steven. During all this traveling I hated to leave my furry 4 legged children alone. So, I decided to buy a travel trailer. At this writing I am on my 3rd travel trailer and love it. It is a 33 foot Evergreen Everlite that I pull with my 2015 Ford 250 King Ranch Super Duty. I have been snowbirding for the last 4 years in Sarasota, FL at an RV resort there.

Mts, Mts, rocks, rocks and more...

So yesterday, Tuesday the 18th, I went to Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. My back, hips and knees weren't cooperating ass well as I would have liked. Therefore I did more driving than hiking.  So glad I had the audio of the parks. Was quite enjoyable. The parks are all so different, it is amazing.  When I look at the pictures I post its hard to believe that is what I saw. Although that is what I saw it by no means really shows what I saw! I hope you can understand what I mean.

Today, Wednesday, I drove around all over the place. I took roads that had no names and no real road. It was a lot of fun. I guess that is what is called the backcountry. Boy is it ever backcountry! Little tents in the middle of nowhere, mobile homes up on a hill permanently and falling apart. Quite amazing how some people choose to live. While I was following the Colorado river I met a girl, Alicia, laying on a huge boulder. She started talking to Asher. What a nice person. She drives the bus for kayak tours.  She drops them off 10-12 miles up the river and then picks them up. During the school year she drives a school bus. Lovely talking with her.  She told me of an enclosed dog park in Moab. So off I went. Asher really needed to run around a bit. Well there were three other dogs and he had a ball. He also was really filthy dirty from rolling around in the dirt. Two of the dogs belonged to this one girl who works in town at a bike shop. Another nice conversation. After that we explored a little more up another unmarked road to an area where they are building new homes. Absolutely beautiful.  Some are real southwestern looking and some are like homes back home. After that came back to MH and met my new neighbors from Tucson, AZ. Of course very nice people.  They had their teenage grandchildren with them.  They also had a 2 year old poo dog of some sort. Maybe Portuguese Water Dog and poo but they weren't sure as she was a rescue. Maya and Asher hit it off real well!

  1. Love the freudian slip in the second sentence!! LOL!! Butt(LOL) so glad you got to see these gorgeous places. You're absolutely right--both when you said you think you'll never see anything more beautiful then suddenly something new appears, as well as how no photograph can truly convey the beauty you see for real! Enjoy every minute!!
