About Me

A little bit about me.....I grew up in North Bellmore, LI, NY . In 1976 I moved in with Cookie, the love of my life. We moved together to Moncure, NC in 2004. That is when I retired from my profession as a Dental Hygienist. Cookie passed on in 2009 and I needed to go forth with my life. I decided to do some traveling. I went to India with my longtime BFAAF Susan, went to Africa with my awesome friends Judy and Mike and my drum group, went to Alaska, again with Judy. I have been to Aruba numerous times with my great friends Susan and Steven. During all this traveling I hated to leave my furry 4 legged children alone. So, I decided to buy a travel trailer. At this writing I am on my 3rd travel trailer and love it. It is a 33 foot Evergreen Everlite that I pull with my 2015 Ford 250 King Ranch Super Duty. I have been snowbirding for the last 4 years in Sarasota, FL at an RV resort there.

Moving on!

I know I haven't posted in a bit but been busy visiting friends. Got to Ellen's house on Sat, 7/1and was there until Thur, 7/6. IAsher and I had a fabulous time. Asher was in his glory with Ellen's two dogs, Hendrix and Sadie, her housemate Sonja's dog Mac and Ellen's two cats, Chloe and Sam. All of them with a fenced in yard with a doggie door. Need I say more? Asher kept wanting to play with Mac a shihitzu but Mac had his own agenda. Asher bothered them all with his big screeching mouth. Fun was had by all though!

Ellen loves to cook and entertain, and that she did! Her mom, Doris, is with her for the summer. The woman is absolutely a doll! She is ready, willing, and able to do anything at anytime. We played a game almost every night. Scrabble, with Ellen's rules, Rummikub, and Cards against Humanity. Too much fun. On Sunday I went to Ellen's church, Mile Hi Church. I had goosebumps the entire time. It is all music, a wonderful reverend and lots of music.  It was quite spiritual, nondenominational and accepting of all! Absolutely loved it! It was such a pleasure spending time with all of them and getting to know Ellen better. By the way, my campsite was her driveway since there were no openings anywhere due to the holiday week. Best campsite ever. Water, electric and plenty of TV channels what more could you ask for? Hopefully she will visit me this winter in Sarasota.

I left Ellen's on Thur, 7/6 and drove to Basalt, CO about 200 miles. It is between Glenwood Springs and Aspen. Since I got there early I got settled and drove back to Aspen to Maroon Bells. It is supposed to be the most scenic site in all of Colorado. During the day you have to take a bus up to the Bells. After 5PM you can drive your own vehicle, which is what I did. It is about 15 miles uphill to an elevation of about 11,000 feet. Once you get to the top there are numerous trails of which some are longer than others and the degree of difficulty varies. I don't really know which one I picked but it was about 2-2 1/2 miles. I am so glad I had my walking sticks with me. Besides not walking all that well myself, it was a real trail with lots of rocks and up and down narrow little paths. To boot, it started raining about a half hour into the journey. I was determined to make it to the waterfalls that I kept hearing in the distance. Well, I didn't make it to the top, 3 miles longer, but I am proud of myself for making it as far as I did. Needless to say, got back to RV soaking wet, muddy feet, and quite pooped. Three Advil and 2 pills for RLS that put me to sleep.
