What a goegeous day here in Kentucky. It is Friday the 9th of June. Arrived yesterday about 2:30 and boy was it hot! Was going to take a ride after I got set up but had a toilet problem. Thank heavens for RV Tips on facebook. I explained my problem, someone got on, explained what was wrong, walked me thru the repair even sent me a you tube. All fixed but pooped so Asher and I did some more walking and explored this beautiful campground. It is in Salvisa, KY. Home of the bourbon trail. So, naturally tomorrow I am going to take a tour of Red Roses Bourbon distillery. There is no cell service or TV stations. There is internet so watched a movie on Netflix, good one I might add.
It is tomorrow now, Saturday, haha! As usual took Asher for as long a walk as I could manage. I wish there was a dog park so he could really run around somewhere. I believe there is one in the next stop. That will make him very happy. BTW, got rid of mice in RV, ticks and bugs and snakes and raccoons in NC. I just removed a tick from my neck while writing this. They must follow me wherever I go, yuk! Let's move on.....went to the Red Roses distillery. Was quite interesting how it is made and how it is different from whiskey. After the tour you go to the tasting room. Me, who doesn't drink told the gentleman just a drop. Well, they give you a bit more than a drop and three different kinds. Needless to say, I about stuck my tongue in each one. As a souvenir they give a beautiful glass, all for $5.00.
I then took a ride to Lawrenceville, a cute little town. Had lunch at a place called H2B, Heavens to Betsy. I had a sandwich called "The Rachel". It was turkey on toasted sourdough bread, with Swiss cheese, cole slaw and thousand island dressing. I believe it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. I ate outside and the manager came over and said "how is your sandwich Sherry"? That was impressive. While I was sitting there an oversized tracker trailer carrying an air handler came down the middle of Main Street. Police all over, the streets closed and the truck couldn't make it under the traffic lights and wires at the end of the intersection. Such entertainment. Every shop owner and employees and patrons were on the street watching. It was amazing, the truck had to be backed up all the way down Main Street and then somehow turn on one of the blocks. Kudos to that driver. He did it!!!
Came back to MH (motor home) took Asher for yet another walk with one of my neighbors here who is from Lakeland, FL. Then cleaned all the dead bugs off front of MH and windshield, you can't even imagine how many. Gonna sit and do nothing now. Was going to leave tomorrow but decided to stay another night and leave Monday for Mammoth Cave, KY. See ya..................
Hey, so glad to see you're making such progress--you figured out the toilet issue, you got rid of the vermin, you figured out your question on the size of the pictures in your blog--what's next Wonder Woman?? Your pics and story of the truck and the wires over the road reminds me of when I was a kid and saw a similar situation, where they had someone riding on the top of the thing with a pole and as they came to wires, he used the pole to push the wires up so they could make it under. Sounds like great entertainment for the townsfolk! Definitely impressive that the manager greeted you by name--guess the only thing that could have improved your sandwich would have been a little tofu!! Happy trails!
