About Me

A little bit about me.....I grew up in North Bellmore, LI, NY . In 1976 I moved in with Cookie, the love of my life. We moved together to Moncure, NC in 2004. That is when I retired from my profession as a Dental Hygienist. Cookie passed on in 2009 and I needed to go forth with my life. I decided to do some traveling. I went to India with my longtime BFAAF Susan, went to Africa with my awesome friends Judy and Mike and my drum group, went to Alaska, again with Judy. I have been to Aruba numerous times with my great friends Susan and Steven. During all this traveling I hated to leave my furry 4 legged children alone. So, I decided to buy a travel trailer. At this writing I am on my 3rd travel trailer and love it. It is a 33 foot Evergreen Everlite that I pull with my 2015 Ford 250 King Ranch Super Duty. I have been snowbirding for the last 4 years in Sarasota, FL at an RV resort there.

Moving on...

My last day in Salvisa, KY I went to the town of Berea, as recommended by my friends Jack and Trish. I had a most enjoyable afternoon walking around the little shops and going to the artisans village. They had some one spinning rugs and someone else making pottery on a wheel. So very interesting. It is a college town so it has a certain comfy feeling to it.

I left Salvisa about 9:30 and drove a short 2 hours to Cave City . Another really pretty, kept campground. I got here very early for check in since I didn't figure on the time change to central zone. My spot was empty though. Took Asher to the dog park but we were the only ones there so he just sat under my chair. It was also very hot especially for running around. I drove around the area a bit and stopped in at a few outrageously expensive junk and souvenir shops. Boy can they rip a person off! Went to Cracker Barrel right down the street for dinner. When I returned, Asher and I went to the dog park again. This time there were 4 other dogs there. He had a fabulous time, I know that because he told me. He ran around with a 12 year old Bassett hound, German Shepard mix and an 8 week old miniature beagle. Needless to say he is sleeping on the couch, lol! If I wasn't writing this I would be sleeping too!

While I was in Cracker Barrel I got a message from Capital One, my credit card company. Someone in FL was trying to use my card for gas. Obviously I was hacked. So now, they shut down my card and they will mail me a new one in 2-3 days. That really sucks! I will be staying put until it comes.

Today, Tuesday, I took a 50 minute ride to Cub Run Cave. It is supposed to be a large cave with no steps, very accessible. Well, after I finally found the place the sign said open Wed thru Sun. I said oh shit, really? So I just drove around and saw a lot of beautiful green, expansive KY and farms. I got to a sign that saiad Mammoth Cave Natl. Park. Thought that was unusual since it is only 15 from my campground and I had driven almost an hour. Then I saw these signs.

I kept on driving though until I got to a stop sign. The sign said Green River Ferry. It was the coolest thing . Takes two cars at a time or a car with a small boat and it chugs across the river. No charge eitherl!

When I got to the other side the signs to the Mammoth Cave visitor center was not too far ahead. The place is ginormous. I already have my ticket for my Frozen Niagra Cave tour for tomorrow. The ranger told me there is a new accessibility tour with an elevator and the next one leaves in 25 minutes. I hurry to get a ticket........the last one just sold out. Gotta say this getting old and not being able to walk is really starting to get on my last nerve. Sooo many things I want to do and can't. There is even a cave tour that lasts 6 hours and you have to have certain hiking boots, hard hat and some other things. You actually have to crawl for a good part. Oh if only....

I will let you know how tomorrow goes, tomorrow! Okay?
I think this is what is known as dry dock!!!!!  Did you know most barns in this part of KY are painted black? You want to know why? Then google it, hahaha!
