About Me

A little bit about me.....I grew up in North Bellmore, LI, NY . In 1976 I moved in with Cookie, the love of my life. We moved together to Moncure, NC in 2004. That is when I retired from my profession as a Dental Hygienist. Cookie passed on in 2009 and I needed to go forth with my life. I decided to do some traveling. I went to India with my longtime BFAAF Susan, went to Africa with my awesome friends Judy and Mike and my drum group, went to Alaska, again with Judy. I have been to Aruba numerous times with my great friends Susan and Steven. During all this traveling I hated to leave my furry 4 legged children alone. So, I decided to buy a travel trailer. At this writing I am on my 3rd travel trailer and love it. It is a 33 foot Evergreen Everlite that I pull with my 2015 Ford 250 King Ranch Super Duty. I have been snowbirding for the last 4 years in Sarasota, FL at an RV resort there.

My stay in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia

It is Wednesday the 7th of June and I am actually writing this from West Virginia.  Seems surreal, but I actually did leave. The ride was pleasantly uneventful. Beautiful scenery thru Virginia and then Wesr Virginia. Since I have only been to FLorida which is flat almost all the way, this so far is quite different. Once I hit a certain point in West Virginia there were truck run offs, 7, 8, and 10% declines. Wasn't nervous but my hands did get a bit sweaty at times. All is good though.

I am at the New River Campground in Gauley Bridge. Due to all the rain they had last week the place got flooded. I did get a fairly dry spot. The people who run the campground couldn't be more helpful. Looking out my back window is the New River. It is huge! After I got set up which didn't take long at all, Asher and I took a ride into Fayetteville, a little tiny cute town. We passed these beautiful waterfalls.  I was tod that they were totally dry last year. Imagine that!
These little cabins are little fishing cabins all along the river. Anyone can build one wherever, you just don't own the land.  Thought that was interesting

It is now Friday and I walked and did more steps than I have done all year so far! Went to see the New River bridge , took a tram ride and a jet boat undon the river to the bridge. As we approached the bridge we were actually white water rafting.  It was a wow experience!
.

Well, I do hope this all comes out okay! Sorry the pictures are so large, gotta figure that out! Nite nite....until tomorrow. Headed for Kentucky in the morning!

  1. Hey Sherry--so glad it's no longer a dream, but a reality!! Glad you weren't at the campground when it flooded! It looks beautiful, and it's great that Asher was able to go with you on the jet boat! He looks pretty calm through it all. Happy trails!

  2. Yeah, you are finally on your way!!! New River brings back memories of tent camping when I was pregnant with Shelley. We were living in Alexandria, Va when Jack was in the Army and went camping in W VA with a group of friends. When we got ready to go rafting down the New River and the concessionaire saw I was pregnant, they wouldn't let me go. So I hiked while they enjoyed the New River experience! You go girl!!!! Love, Trisha
