About Me

A little bit about me.....I grew up in North Bellmore, LI, NY . In 1976 I moved in with Cookie, the love of my life. We moved together to Moncure, NC in 2004. That is when I retired from my profession as a Dental Hygienist. Cookie passed on in 2009 and I needed to go forth with my life. I decided to do some traveling. I went to India with my longtime BFAAF Susan, went to Africa with my awesome friends Judy and Mike and my drum group, went to Alaska, again with Judy. I have been to Aruba numerous times with my great friends Susan and Steven. During all this traveling I hated to leave my furry 4 legged children alone. So, I decided to buy a travel trailer. At this writing I am on my 3rd travel trailer and love it. It is a 33 foot Evergreen Everlite that I pull with my 2015 Ford 250 King Ranch Super Duty. I have been snowbirding for the last 4 years in Sarasota, FL at an RV resort there.

Holbrook, Petrified Forest

Got to Holbrook early, was a short ride. Beautiful and easy ride. Mike pulled in around 5 I guess. He set up and we talked and had dinner. Was a nice, but barren campground.  The next morning we went out to an early breakfast and then went to the Petrified Forest National Park. It was amazing. Who would believe that wood could become stone. So as Mikes wife said, it is not a forest but an area where trees had fallen, sediment did its work on it and after 100 to 200 million years it has become stone. I am talking huge trees and after a period of time and movement they break. Looks like they were sawed into pieces. Outside of the park there are loads of rock shops. These things weigh a ton and cost a fortune. If you buy them raw they aren't as expensive. If you buy them polished up...forget about it! We saw some tables and chairs....$$$$$$thousands of $$$$$$$!!!!!

That is part of the old Route 66!
On the left is what's called a dust devil.  Mike pointed it out, I had never heard of it before. It is like a tornado but with lots of dust!

We then stopped to eat at the cafe at the entrance to The Painted Desert. We were both getting hangry!😏🙃 Went thru the Desert and saw all the beautiful colors!

The next day, late morning we parted ways. I went on to Albuquerque and Mike was heading to Faywood Hot Springs! It was great to spend time with Mike. Next time needs to be longer and Donna has to come!
So I had a great ride about 6 hours to Albuquerque made the turn where the gps said and took me behind the Magistrate Court and a dead end. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper at that point since I had to disconnect my car to turn around. You cannot backup when pulling a car.  Got it done and got to Stagecoach Stop campground. I mentioned to the host, Anwar, about the gps. He felt so bad he gave me a premium site for regular price! This is the view from my patio......

Today was a very busy errand day. I finally got an appt. for Asher to get groomed, I got my haircut too, did the laundry (at the cleanest, nicest laundromat I have ever seen), and did some shopping around! Very good day! Ending with take out Chinese food that I have been craving!
The dog groomer got a little carried away but it will grow and it is cooler.  My haircut was a great haircut!

  1. So sorry about the GPS forcing you into a disconnect-before-you-can-turn-around situation! Similar to our experience when the GPS sent us under an overpass too low for the RV! Asher is getting so BIG! Sophie won't recognize him!
