About Me

Moncure, North Carolina, United States
A little bit about me.....I grew up in North Bellmore, LI, NY . In 1976 I moved in with Cookie, the love of my life. We moved together to Moncure, NC in 2004. That is when I retired from my profession as a Dental Hygienist. Cookie passed on in 2009 and I needed to go forth with my life. I decided to do some traveling. I went to India with my longtime BFAAF Susan, went to Africa with my awesome friends Judy and Mike and my drum group, went to Alaska, again with Judy. I have been to Aruba numerous times with my great friends Susan and Steven. During all this traveling I hated to leave my furry 4 legged children alone. So, I decided to buy a travel trailer. At this writing I am on my 3rd travel trailer and love it. It is a 33 foot Evergreen Everlite that I pull with my 2015 Ford 250 King Ranch Super Duty. I have been snowbirding for the last 4 years in Sarasota, FL at an RV resort there.

Cottonwood & Sedona

Got to Cottonwood , AZ on Thursday, 8/3/17. Staying at an Encore, Thousand Trails, Passport America campground. Which means since I am a member of one of those, the campground fee is 50%. Sweet...$17.50 per night.  Can't get better than that. It has a jacuzzi and beautiful pool. Like a mini Sun n Fun!
Sedona was about 25 miles from campground and a beautiful ride. Just as I got into Sedona there was a sign for jeep tours, trolley tours and helicopter tours. I immediately pulled over and booked my adventure for the next day. Will tell you about it later.... I was to Sedona with Susan and Steven about 7 or 8 years ago. It is exactly as I remember. Went into a lot of the same shops too! Ate at the well known Cowboy Club.  They have rattlesnake bites and alligator something or other. Nooooo, but I did have a buffalo burger that was outstanding!

Waked around the town and helped the economy a bit. People watching is incredible too!

The picture on the left is a javelina. Looks like a pig but it isn't. They come out at night and make a mess. Haven't seen one but my garbage was well aware they were here. Asher's nose also could tell! The pink one, well, make up your own story! Did a lot of sightseeing and driving around. It is just so beautiful! I went to the church of....... that was built into the mountain. Wow, wow, wow!!!

It started to rain, like it did everyday, but this was lightning, thundering, pouring rain. Was getting all kinds of flash flood alerts on my phone so I thought it best to go back to RV and spend the evening! The rain actually lasted through the whole night. By morning the sun was out and a bit cooler!
So I drove around the town of Old Historic Cottonwood.  What a cute little town. Happened upon this cute Head shop. Haven't been in one of those for 100 years, lol!

Bought myself a new bong, a really nice pipe, some rolling paper and.......only kidding. I did buy myself a singing bowl!
Also stopped by a few antique, consignment, wonderful shops. The things were mostly too big to get home, besides being too much $$$.

Had to be at airport by 4:30 for helicopter tour so I spent some time with Asher and left him again. He is such a good boy and an understanding child!
While I was waiting at the tour office in walks a father and son. I said, self, I know this guy. What a small world. He was the boyfriend and the dad of my friends daughter in NC! It turns out we were on the same flight. Not in a million years.......

It had just rained a bit and this beauty showed up! Another wow!

Remember the church in the mountain from earlier? Well, here it is from 1500 feet up in the air!
Fifty minutes later we landed.

I went and had dinner right next to the airport and waited for the sunset. Great way to end my time in Sedona.

I leave in the morning for Holbrook, AZ where I will meet my friend Mike. He flew into Tuscon to see his sons. We will spend a few days together. Go to painted desert and petrified forest. Hopefully see some of the perseid meteors!
